We made it!!!!  We didn't think that twelve hour flight would ever end! And everything that could go wrong did. And then it all worked out. When we got to Las Vegas to take our first flight leaving at 5:30 the plane was delayed for three hours before we could depart. That left us only a little time to connect to our next flight in San Francisco. The airlines said that we would probably make it in time. We did and then found out that the next flight was delayed. So we ended up landing in Seoul and hour an a half late. As we were waiting for  our luggage I realized I could hardly breathe. I just thought it was because I was so excited. We were scheduled to go to the mission home at five to have dinner with all of the missionaries that were coming home this transfer. We only had thirty minutes to make it there. Chase had a member from the Yeong Dong Po ward meet us there. I am so thankful because she helped us find the cell phone rentals, exchange our money and translated for us. But most importantly she took us to the mission home. We had to take the subway to Seoul Station and then find a taxi to the mission home. With her knowing the way it was a lifesaver because we are all so confused here. We were all so worried about going to the mission home in the clothes we traveled in and not having the time to change into church clothes. Chase's friend Chalmers who helped us said that is no problem. She had called the President to tell him we had just landed and would be there soon. They are all pretty laid back about things like that. It kind of reminded me of the Hawaiian's kicked back way of doing things. So, we got there after dinner and they were just starting the testimony meeting so we entered the room and sat in the back. Chase was up on the front row and he looked back and I just waved at him. (this was torture!!! I wanted to run up there and give him the biggest hug!) so we had to wait for two hours to talk to him but we got to sit in the back and look at him. The testimonies were amazing.

As we left the mission home we were all just saying I can't believe that this is really happening. By the time we got to the hotel I could not talk and could hardly breathe. Chalmers went down to the pharmacy and got some Korean medicine for me. It was soooo nasty but it helped. By the next morning I was sounding just like Haden when he gets the barking seal cough! I was getting so mad! Anytime during the year to be sick!!!! But not now!!!! I got up early and tried to take some more medicine and by the time I had taken it I could not breathe. Ha I was a little worried! So thankful Chase was with me so that he could translate. We walked across the street to the hospital emergency room and they gave me some breathing treatments. It got a little better. They had me come back in three hours for one more breathing treatment. The receptionist told Chase that it would be really expensive because I was a foreigner and Korean medicine is social medicine. I asked how much and the told me $35.00!!!! Oh my  I pay that much for a copayment in America! We got quite a laugh over that. The Korean hospital was quite interesting. Because it is social medicine any Korean can check in or check out anytime. So if they are having a bad day they just go check in and the nurses take care of them. There were patients going everywhere in there little gowns in wheel chairs and rolling their iv cart with them. They would go outside and get some air and take a walk and then come back in.

Emergency Room

Chase took Kyle and Zack down to get some breakfast. The Korean's eat the same food at all meals. There is no difference between breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is what they brought back. Chase was just loving it. They gave Zack a sushi roll and they looked back and we was dry heaving. He sort of does the same thing with kimchi.

We took a taxi up to So Dae Moon this was Chase's first area that he served in. Brother Han made us lunch and we ate with him and the missionaries at the church. The house that Chase lived in is just ten steps away from the church and Brother Han is the ward mission leader.

Street to the church.

Chase's home in So Dae Moon.

We walked up to the Seo Dae Moon prison history hall. It was a torture prison that the Japanese used on the Korean people when the Japanese tried to take control of Korea. It was quite sad to see all of the torture tactics that they used on these people. I could never do that to anyone. The Koreans still have quite an animosity towards the Japanese.

We walked through the So Dae Moon market. I hope you can smell how Seoul smells by looking at these.

Lunch

So happy to be with him!!!!

More from the market.
